Payment link terms

Last updated 26 October 2026 Applies to people paying an Australian business through Dinetap

Draft for legal review. Prepared for Dinetap Australia Pty Ltd and not yet approved. Highlighted items are still to be confirmed. These terms are for people paying a business through a Dinetap payment link or WooCommerce checkout.

These terms apply when you pay an Australian business through a Dinetap payment link, or at the checkout of a business’s website that uses the Dinetap WooCommerce plugin.

1. Who you are buying from

You are buying from the business named on the payment page or invoice (the “merchant”). Your contract for the goods or services is with the merchant. The merchant is responsible for what you buy, including its description, quality, delivery, cancellations and refunds.

Dinetap Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 23 679 041 537, ACN 679 041 537) (“Dinetap”) provides the technology the merchant uses to request and take your payment. Dinetap is not the seller.

Your card payment is processed by Adyen Australia Pty Limited (ABN 55 162 682 411, AFSL 516550), on the merchant’s behalf, through a secure Adyen payment page.

2. Your consumer rights

When you buy from an Australian business, you have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, including rights to a repair, replacement or refund if goods or services fail to meet a consumer guarantee. These rights are against the merchant. Nothing in these terms limits them.

3. Check the details before you pay

Before you pay, the payment page shows the merchant’s name, what the payment is for and the total amount, including any fees. If you cannot tell who you are paying, or the amount or description looks wrong, do not pay. Contact the merchant, or contact us using the details in section 10.

Card payments must not be surcharged. Since October 2026 the eftpos, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, UnionPay and PayPal networks do not allow merchants to add a fee for paying by card. A merchant may still charge a lawful weekend or public holiday surcharge, or a service or booking fee, but it must be shown before you pay. If you think you have been surcharged for paying by card, you can tell your card provider.

4. How payment works

When you confirm a payment, your card or payment method is usually charged straight away, unless the merchant tells you otherwise (for example for a deposit or a pre-authorisation). Your bank may ask you to verify the payment, for example with a one-time code.

You will see a confirmation on screen and, if you give an email address, receive a receipt. A payment link may expire or work only once. If a payment fails, or you think you have been charged twice, keep your receipt or payment reference and contact the merchant.

5. Refunds and cancellations

Ask the merchant for refunds and cancellations, quoting your name, the date, the amount and the payment reference. The merchant decides refunds under its own policy and the law, and must give you any refund you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law. Approved refunds go back to the payment method you used. Your bank may take a few business days to show them.

6. Disputed or unauthorised payments

If you cannot resolve a problem with the merchant, or you did not authorise a payment, contact your bank or card provider. You may be able to dispute the payment (a “chargeback”) under the card scheme rules. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. The merchant, Adyen and Dinetap may share transaction details to investigate a dispute.

7. Your card details

You enter your card details on Adyen’s secure payment page. Adyen is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Neither Dinetap nor the merchant receives your full card number or security code.

8. Your personal information

To process your payment, the merchant, Adyen and Dinetap handle details such as the amount, date, payment method, payment outcome, your contact details if you give them for a receipt, and device and IP information for fraud prevention. Some of this information may be handled overseas, including in Singapore and the Netherlands.

Our privacy policy explains how Dinetap handles it and how to access, correct or complain about it. The merchant’s and Adyen’s privacy policies also apply.

9. Our responsibility

Dinetap is responsible for providing its payment technology with due care and skill. Because Dinetap is not the seller, the merchant, not Dinetap, is responsible for the goods or services you buy. Nothing in these terms excludes any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

10. Help, complaints and the law that applies

For technical problems with a payment page, or if you cannot identify a merchant, contact Dinetap at support@dinetap.com or on +61 403 111 317. For anything about what you bought, contact the merchant.

If a complaint is not resolved, you can contact your state or territory consumer protection agency, such as the Queensland Office of Fair Trading.

These terms are governed by the law of Queensland. Your purchase from the merchant is governed by the law that applies to that purchase. You keep any rights you have under the law of the state or territory where you live.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version shown when you pay applies to that payment.
